More thoughts about 2.0

I'm going to put this behind a cut. Not because of pictures but because this will go into further thoughts surrounding my miscarriage. Some may not want to read about such things and it's easier to skip with a page cut.

Joy to heartache in 3 weeks

On Thanksgiving Day, I decided to test because I had an inkling I might have a surprise.

15 months week 4 beginning of 16th month

I have so much to write about and no time to write! Luckily I have been keeping notes so I can remember what all I was going to write about.

15 months week 3

Thanksgiving was yesterday. It was a great day. We had breakfast as a family and then a nice dinner.

Last week Xavier also had his 15 month check up. I'm happy to announce no more iron problems and the lead levels are untraceable! He was 28.5 lbs (or something like that) though Rob didn't catch his height. The doctor said he was perfectly healthy! Very happy to hear that.

The latest "trick" is shrugging shoulders and "roll it" from patty cake. I need to try to get a video. Just he does it so randomly and when you ask him to do it sometimes he won't.

Monday I finally start my new department at work. And then the following week I start a new schedule. 6am - 2:30. It's going to be crazy!!

15 months week 1 & 2

Sorry for the delay. I ended up taking a vacation day on Friday last week and Monday and Tuesday this week. So I was on baby duty and he will not let me take the time to make a blog post. :)

Honestly, it's been a long week and I can't really remember a whole lot. So there's a lot of pictures!

This was kind of uncomfortable. I became a pizza rest. He got upset when I tried to take it away from him (either it. haha)

snuggles

Goofy boy

Xavier discovered the joys of tape measures.

Mommy was tired. We chilled watching Sesame Street while I attempted to nap. He couldn't resist cheesing for the camera though.

Loving on Zelda.

Look at those EYES! He loves his kitty.

Enjoying some ice.

again, playing with the ice. It was super cute. He'd suck on an ice cube then crawl over to me and snuggle up to me on the couch then when he finished the cube he'd crawl off and go get another one.

Being silly while trying to take a picture.

Eating a mandarine/clementine. He LOVES them.

Goofy boy eating a biscuit I think.

I love this picture.

We had a good time. He likes it when we take Selfies. haha

He thought it was SO FUNNY having Zelda try to get in the bath with him.

Playing in a basket.

BASKETS ARE FUN!

Here he was playing peek-a-boo with Zelda who was in the kitchen. He just was laughing and laughing.

PEEK!

And another clementine. He wouldn't let me peel it.

I don't remember what he was eating here. But this is a thing. He likes to just have food hang out his mouth. Maybe this was a biscuit and the other was a waffle fry. I dunno.

And stole another clemetine and wouldn't let me peel it.

And another shot of the stubborn boy.

14 months week 4

It feels like it's been a LONG TIME since I last made a post. I've been off on the last couple Fridays I guess and then last week I posted super early so I've got lots of things to discuss from last week and this week! And because I had a long weekend (Friday through Monday) with Xavier there's extra pictures!

Lets see... So, Friday last week, I discovered that Xavier likes these little toddler/baby snacks called yogurt drops or yogurt melts. They're freeze dried little circles of yogurt. They've apparently got the goodness of yogurt (probiotics and whatnot) and the fun-ness of melt in your mouth goodness. Xavier will say "mmmm" and dances sometimes with how much he loves them.
He also learned to clap. This is one of my favorite new accomplishments (other than his eating milestones). He claps and says "yay" now. He had kind of done a slapping of his hands together and would move my hands in a clapping motion, but I helped his hands move to a clapping motion and ever since then he has gotten it and now claps for everything. Getting finished with a diaper change? Clap and say yay. Getting to get out of the car? Clap and say yay. Have Daddy free your stuck hand? Clap and say yay. ;) (this actually happened today.)
Friday we experienced first hair cut. He did really well. He sat relatively still and only squirmed badly when she was trying to do close work around his ears/neck as he is very ticklish there. He got scared when she used the blow drier, but over all, did great!

These weeks have been full of frustrations with our daycare. Tuesday, the 22nd, so not this past Tuesday but the previous, when I picked up Xavier, his daily report sheet said at the bottom that they had to change and bathe Xavier that morning because he had a "disturbing odor." That's in quotes for a reason. Those are the words they used. Needless to say, I was very upset. I fretted about it all Tuesday night and then Wednesday when I dropped him off at daycare I asked the teacher who was there if she could give me some information about what the "disturbing odor" was. She said she had no idea. She was coming back from lunch (red flag #1. the note said morning) and they were giving him a bath and she was told that if I asked any questions to have me call the director. So she gave me the director's phone number and I called on my first break of the morning. The director was the one who wrote the note and she told me that she couldn't describe what it was but that everyone in the baby room could smell it and it was making it difficult to hold him. So they decided just to give him a bath. She said after his bath he was happy and there wasn't any further problems. She said she didn't want to make me mad by giving him a bath but she thought I would have wanted to know I had bathed him. I told her I wasn't mad about the bath. What I was upset about was the terminology "disturbing odor" and that she couldn't tell me more about what it was so I could try to figure it out. She couldn't tell me if it was from the diaper area or around his head (he still nurses through the night so I thought maybe he had "sour" milk smell) and she couldn't tell me anything about the odor at all. So, now Xavier gets a bath every night before daycare where as previously I only bathed him if he was excessively dirty or just if he seemed like he needed it before bed. I also decided to put him in disposable diapers at daycare because 1) they never got them on correctly and they were always just held on by his pants and 2) because the problem could have been cloth diaper funk. It happens. I just needed to do what's called a "strip" and it's been fine, but rather than potentially have more problems, and it's just a reduction of stress for me without having to make sure we have sufficient clean diapers for daycare, I just decided to do disposable.

On that note came to my other frustration. I was so convinced that the pack of diapers I sent said there were 206 (I realize now what a HUGE number that is and how there was no way there could have been) and I had taken out 6 so that I'd have something to put him in the mornings. I was very upset when on this past Tuesday there was a note saying that he needed more diapers. I didn't understand how he could have possibly gone through 200 diapers in a week. Well, after much fretting and upset it came to light that the pack only had 26 diapers, so that was completely understandable for him to have gone through nearly 20 diapers in 3 days. I think what must have happened is that I mentally told myself there were 26, I took out 6, so that left 20. So I had in my head that "20" and kept telling myself I had subtracted the last number, so in my head I had that there must have been 206. Rob bought a box of diapers to take to daycare this week and there were 112 and I realize now that 200 diapers would be an insane number and there was no way the tiny pack I had sent could have possibly had 200. I am laughing about it now, but I was very upset earlier this week.
On a "good" note from daycare, yesterday when I picked him up the teacher that was there told me what a smart boy he is. The direction he was trying to crawl was blocked and he had the advanced thought to move what was blocking him out of his way. Not only did he move the toy that was blocking him, but after he went where he was going, he turned around and moved the toy back where it had been! The teachers indicated they had never seen a baby do that before. I have to admit I was kind of proud of my little thinker! They said the other kids would go under legs or around things but Xavier just moved the item. Big boy!!

And one final thing for this week. It's been going on for a while, but it is very forefront in both Rob and my mind now. Xavier LOVES to restart the Playstation. I guess because the buttons light up and it makes a noise when he touches them. But it can be quite frustrating when you're in the middle of watching a TV show or movie on Netflix or Hulu, or playing a game and the playstation gets turned off or reset or disk ejected. So far, we have not been successful on finding a good deterrent.

Anyway, pictures!

One of his favorite past times. Opening and closing the door.

I just thought the outfit was cute. So... pictures!

I love yogurt drops dance.

Peeling at the edges of a touch and feel book.

More touch and feel.

and more touch and feel.

Friday morning. wiiiild and crazy bed head. And, Great Aunt Judy sent both this shirt for his birthday and the elephant is his very first gift also from Great Aunt Judy!

Napping at the Library at the breastfeeding support group meeting which ended up being just me complaining about cryptic daycare notes.

First haircut before picture!!

Little boy looking in the mirror.

Holding the train he got to keep his hands occupied while getting the hair cut.

Getting started!

Getting the top wet and ready to cut!

Looking goofy. :)

getting things finished up.

And all done!

Waiting for Mommy to pay so we can go home!

And, haircut doesn't solve bed head. haha

Still super cute though!

New shoes! These are Skidders and they're pretty awesome. FINALLY got some to fit him. They're a Skidders 24 month but they equate to a size 8! Big feet for my boy. But then when you think about his parents it makes sense.

Bath time is fun.

Um... This picture got misplaced. Anyway... More playing with the elephant. haha

Sleepy boy on Sunday morning I think it was.

Cuddles

Nappy time

Comparison of Rob and Xavier.

Another outfit from Great Aunt Judy, but he didn't want his picture taken.

So I just had to take it when he was napping.

I forgot to post this one earlier. I love his expression.

And Mommys little Scentsy helper.
